Abstract
For the treatment of unilateral iliofemoral occlusive disease, several procedures are commonly employed. Among these procedures, the more common are the femoralto-femoral, axillary-to-femoral, and crossover external iliac-to-femoral grafts. In addition to these techniques, a more direct reconstruction by endarterectomy has been presented employing a similar extraperitoneal approach and using the eversion method. Over the past seven years, 15 patients and 17 limbs have been treated by this method with successful restoration of circulation in all cases for the immediate and long-term patency. There has been no acute or late vascular complications. Eversion method of endarterectomy seems well suited for the treatment of unilateral external iliac and common femoral disease and is recommended as the treatment of choice. Advantages and limitations are discussed.
