Abstract

Contact resistance higher than normally required can be observed on relay and connector contact materials if manufacturing processes are not carefully monitored. These higher contact resistance values were traced to oxides of extraneous metallic deposits on the metal contact surface. The deposits are generally within about 2000 A into the surface and require surface sensitive techniques for delineation.
