Abstract
In the present study, a 12 years old mongrel female dog was presented with hard, ulcerated growth on the lower abdomen just anterior to the last pair of the mammary gland. Cytology of the growth revealed a sheet of uniform-sized individually arranged round cells with prominent nucleoli along with the presence of numerous mitotic figures. Histopathology showed islands of round cells surrounded by connective tissue stroma. Immunohistochemistry revealed that the growth was immune-reactive to the PCNA, Ki-67 and vimentin whereas non reactive for pan-cytokeratin and desmin biomarkers. Based on cytology, histopathology, and immunohistochemistry, the growth was confirmed as an extra-genital transmissible venereal tumor.
