Abstract

Two external ion sources, an electron cyclotron resonance (ECR) source for heavy ions and an atomic-beam source for polarized protons and deuterons, are currently under construction for the cyclotron at the Svedberg Laboratory (TSL), Uppsala. The sources will be placed in partly newly built localities outside the cyclotron hall, which will also contain an area for atomic-physics experiments with heavy ions from the ECR source. The beam-transport system, which will be common for the two ion sources, is based on magnetic elements.
