Abstract

The Fourier method is used to solve the extended Graetz problem for laminar flow in annuli by including the effects of axial conduction in both the upstream and the downstream directions. The exact solution is obtained under unequal constant wall temperatures and including the effects of viscous dissipation. The results are compared with other well-known data. The eigenvalues and asymptotic Nusselt numbers are derived as a function of the geometric characteristic and Peclet number as parameters.
