Abstract

In this work, a modified analytical model with closed-form solution is proposed by following the existing framework in the prior works, to analyze the dynamic responses of interfacial shear and peel stresses in adhesively bonded double-lap joints subjected to harmonic axial load. By applying the dynamic equilibrium along the through-thickness direction, the differential equation governing adhesive peel stress is first contained in this model. The dynamic responses of interfacial stresses obtained by finite element simulations under four different loading conditions are used to validate this analytical model. The parametric study based on the proposed model is also implemented to assess the effect of some geometrical parameters on the dynamic response of adhesive interfacial stresses.
