Abstract

Objective To explore the expression of VEGF and PGC-1α in breast carcinoma and its relationship to the tumor proliferation, infiltration and rmetastasis. Methods Immunohistochemistry and RT-PCR were used to examine the expression of VEGF, mtDNA and PGC-1α in 26 infitrating ductal breast carcinoma examples and 9 normal breast tissues respectively. Results The expression of VEGF protein and mRNA in the breast carcinoma was obviously higher than that in the normal tissues, but the mRNA expression of mtDNA and PGC-1α was higher in normal tissues. Conclusion The expression of VEGF up-regulates and PGC-1α down-regulates in the breast cancer tissue. Lower level of PGC-1α may play a role in the breast tumor cells proliferation, infiltration and metastasis.
