Abstract

Objective To investigate the differences in the expression of TUBB3 (class Ⅲβ-tubulin) mRNA between non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) tissues and normal lung tissues, and also to analyze its relationship with clinical pathologic features in Zhoushan Island. Methods Excised tumor tissue and normal lung tissue were collected from 86 cases of NSCLC.Then,one-step real-time qRT-PCR (quantitative PCR) was adopted to detect the expression level of TUBB3 mRNA.The relationship between TUBB3 mRNA in NSCLC and clinical pathologic features prognosis was analyzed. Results The expression level of TUBB3 mRNA in NSCLC tissue was higher than that in the normal lung tissue (P =0.043).The overexpression of TUBB3 mRNA was obviously correlated with the pathological subtype (P =0.035),and the adenocarcinoma subtype was an important risk factor for the overexpression of TUBB3 mRNA (P =0.042).In addition,TUBB3 mRNA expression was not directly correlated with the survival time of NSCLC patients (P > 0.05).Conclusions High expression of TUBB3 mRNA could be seen in NSCLC tissues in Zhoushan Island, which might be correlated with pulmonary adenocarcinoma, however,it might be irrelevant to the prognosis of patients. Key words: TUBB3 mRNA; Non-small cell lung cancer; Zhoushan Island
