Abstract

Objective To analyze the relationship between p53 and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) expression in gastric cancer and clinicalfeatures of gastric cancer. Methods Eighty-three cases of gastric cancer surgically resected and pathologically confirmed were collected, and the clinical data including gender, age, differentiation degree, invasion, lymph node metastasis and TNM stages were recorded and analyzed. The p53 and VEGF expression was detected by using immunohistochemistry and analyzed by using SPSS 14.0 statistical software. Results The poitive expression rate of p53 in gastric cancer was 61.44% (51 cases). The p53 gene expression was positively correlated with the differentiation degree and lymphaden metastases. The positive expression rate of VEGF expression in gastric cancer was 69.88% (58 cases),and the VEGF expression was positively correlated with the invasive extension, lymphaden metastases and TNM stages. Conclusion Combined detection of the expression of p53 and VEGF in gastric cancer contributes to the clinical diagnosis, illness evaluation, treatment and prognosis of gastric cancer. Key words: Gastric cancer; p53; Vascular endothelial growth factor
