Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression of focal adhesion kinase(FAK)and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)in salivary adenoid cystic carcinoma(SACC)and their significances. Methods The expressions of FAK, VEGF and CD34 in 40 cases of SACC and 15 cases of normal salivary gland tissue were detected with immunohistochemical method. SPSS 19.0 software was used for Mann-Whitney U, Chi-square test, Fisher′s exact test and correlation analysis. Results The expression of FAK was seen in 87.5% of SACC and 33.33% in the control group, Z=-4.44, P=0.001; The expression of VEGF was 90% and 26.67% respectively, Z=-4.84, P=0.001; The expression of CD34 was 85% and 40% respectively, Z=-4.18, P=0.002. The differences were significant(P 0.05). The expression of FAK was positively correlated with the expression of VEGF. The coefficient of correlation was 0.479, P=0.002. Conclusion The expression of FAK and VEGF is significantly associated with tumor clinical stage clinical stage and metastasis. Key words: Salivary adenoid cystic carcinoma; Metastasis; Focal adhesion kinase; Vascular endothelial growth factor; Microvessel density
