Abstract
Objective To clarify the molecular mechanism of development, invasion and metastasis of human malignant melanoma, we detect the expression of heparanase and nm23 in malignant melanoma. Methods The expression of heparanase and nm23 in 30 malignant melanoma, 30 melanocytic nevus and 20 normal skin were detected by SP immunohistochemistry. Results Positive rates of heparanase in malignant melanoma (63.33%) were significantly higher than that in normal skin. Positive rates of nm 23 in malignant melanoma (36.67%) were significantly lower than that in normal skin (90.00%) and melanocytic nevus(86.67% ). Both of the expression of heparanase and nm23 in metastasize malignant melanoma were greatly different to the no metastasis ones. Conclusions Heparanase and nm23 are closely related to the metastasis of malignant melanoma, and may be the predictors of the metastasis. Key words: Malignant melanoma; Heparanase; nm23
