Abstract
This abstract accompanies the closing presentation of the IMAGE 2022 ‘Recent Advances and the Road Ahead’ (RARA) Special Session. It is authored by the session organizers who invited a diverse group of speakers to the special session to make it an informative and inspiring event that can help with providing a positive perspective of the future to our exploration geophysics community. It is their hope that providing a positive outlook at a time of rapid change and disruption of our ways of working will be helpful. While there is no simple path towards a prosperous and meaningful future for all of us, there are many opportunities for those who embrace the concept of exploration as a relentless search for the discovery of new solutions to both old and new challenges.
