Summary
Migration plays a key role in the spread, transformation and propagation of medical practices and its knowledge. When moving from a place to another, people do take their belongings, but they transport their values, beliefs and cultural practices with them. Gans [3], argues that immigrants use their ethnic and traditional practices as a psychological, social and political defence against the dominating culture of the host society. In such situations, the medical practices function as an ethnic marker or an identity of the minority population of migrants [46]. The medical choices made by individuals could depend upon factors such as their gender, religion, ethnic origin or society
