Weeds are responsible for major crop losses worldwide but can provide beneficial agroecosystem services. The present study aimed to study the association of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in common weeds found in agro-ecosystem. Around 19 weeds were collected from various locations of eastern dry zone of Karnataka. The mycorrhizal association was determined by root staining technique. Of the 18 weed samples, AM fungal association was found in 17 weed species and the percent root colonization ranged from 10-68 %. Highest root colonization was found in weeds belongs Graminaceae family. The result of the study concludes that, AM fungi colonizes the weeds and they may act as host during the off seasons.
