Abstract

The purpose of this article is to study China and Russian‘s different social etiquette so as to avoid culture shock when communicating, and to help Chinese who first come to Russia get a landscape of Russian social manners and better integrate their lives into the Russian society. This article provides a comprehensive comparison between the two countries‘ social norms in different aspects including greetings and addressing, personal space, and dining. Drawing upon the difference in core values and national characteristics, a conclusion of the main differences in Russian and China‘s social etiquettes is made. And some strategies for Chinese learners of Russian to reduce communication barriers are offered.
