Abstract
ABSTRACT In this article, the author explores the epistemological prospect of proximity tourism in refugeedom through the creative lens of poetic inquiry (PI). With spoken word poetry at its core, the author portrays an unsung refugee’s journey during resettlement and articulates the importance of PI and creative analytic practice in doing so. Given that ‘creativity’ can lead to concerns about research reliability and antipathy toward research participants, the author emphasizes the importance of academically informed approaches in mitigating such risks in this article. This exploratory article illustrates the author’s evolution as a researcher actively involved in refugeedom and tourism, underscoring the relevance of PI as a creative, analytical conduit. He emphasizes incorporating PI into research while carefully balancing creative sensibilities and academic rigour.
