Abstract

The paper presents developments in synergistic radar, a new technology that was commercialized developed under the name ENCLOSURE. Although ENCLOSURE was introduced as a high-end perimeter intrusion detection system based on synergistic radar technology, this concept opens a variety of new applications, most of which are presented. Even though, the majority of intrusions are conducted in dense urban areas, where a wide range of commercial FM stations transmit 24 hours per day, all year long, which forms the heart of the ENCLOSURE's technology, there is a growing need to provide similar technology in remote areas where commercial FM stations are too weak, nonexistent or unreliable. The FCC regulation in the USA and IC regulation in Canada now permit transmitting up to 1 watt within the FM band with only notification. This now permits one to take advantage of synergistic radar technology in all areas
