Abstract
The surprisingly low reaction rate of anisole (compared to benzene) towards “Clayzic” catalysed Friedel-Crafts benzylation at ambient temperature, has been explained and used to show the presence and identify the origin of, both Brønsted and Lewis acid sites in “Clayzic”.
