Abstract

This article presents the experience tests on Motion Sickness Incidence (MSI) reduction on a high speed craft caused by heaving and pitching motions. The tests were carried out by means of a scale model ship in irregular waves in a towing tank. Several control structures have been tuned by means of genetic algorithms in order to decrease the MSI in the high-speed craft. To tune the controllers a ship Simulink model was used. It is found that these controllers provide a significant Motion Sickness Incidence reduction.
