Abstract
Chaos synchronization in two separate erbium-doped fiber lasers through a 1.5-km-long fiber is experimentally demonstrated. Two identical erbium-doped fiber lasers are fabricated and modulated by an optical modulator near the relaxation oscillation frequency of the fiber laser. At this frequency, the two fiber lasers generate chaotic carriers. When the synchronization conditions such as cavity length, modulation frequency, and laser characteristics are satisfied, the two chaotic fiber lasers are synchronized.
