Abstract
Emulsified diesel has been used in a diesel engine at four different fuel injection pressures, i.e., 160 bar, 190 bar, 210 bar and 250 bar to investigate performance as well as emission characteristics of the engine. Brake thermal efficiency is noted to be improved at higher injection pressure and the maximum efficiency is recorded at injection pressure of 210 bar using emulsified diesel which is 3.3% more than that noted using normal diesel. At higher engine load, the neat BSFC considering only the quantity of diesel fuel present in the emulsion is found to be less compared to neat diesel. The emission measure of NOx and smoke are recorded to reduce at higher fuel injection pressure.
