Abstract

Abstract A comprehensive experimental apparatus for the progressive collapse testing of Reinforced Concrete (RC) frames have also been developed. The loading apparatus has been studied for the testing of the threedimensional frame of progressive collapse resistance of the RC structure under a corner column removal scenario. Five storey RC samples were checked, one bare frame without wall load, one bare frame with wall load and one bare frame with Infilled walls. On the displacement screen at the top of the center column, the frame specimens are forced down quasi dynamically to check the progressive collapse mechanism of the RC frame with an emphasis on the effect of infill walls. This study includes the trend of Load Vs Deflection and crack pattern. The test results show that the infill walls can provide a suitable path of load transfer and improve the gradual collapse resistance of the RC frames.
