Abstract
The vibrational relaxation of HD in collision with HD or 4He has been studied experimentally in the interval 80–400 K. The vibrational de-excitation of n-D 2 by HD was measured in the same range of temperature. The rate of the HD vibrational de-excitation was found to be greater than for other isotopic systems. Our results may be understood in terms of a greater intervention of the molecular rotation in the HD relaxation process.
