Abstract

We live in an era of media and information explosion. Information is transmitted in various, constantly revolutionized forms. Movies, television and other new animated media have penetrated into all aspects of our life and become part of it. From those media we acquire knowledge, ways of communication and pleasure. The deep-seated difference between the new media and the traditional static media is that the new media presents information through animated visual images. Video images and text are the two components of the visual elements of animated media, where writing signs, the most important carriers of human culture, no more appear statically, but instead, they are presented dynamically. Today digital technology via computer programs are often employed to conceive, design and produce animated texts. New digital technology can realize any effect of animated texts that the brain of human can conceive. How to envision and how to create animated texts are problems on which media designers often ponder. By analyzing presentation manners and characteristics of visual images in movies, television and multimedia works, this paper boils down the principles and experiences in creation of dynamic texts into eight points of penetration, in an approach to the essential principles governing creative design of animated texts.
