Abstract

The cross section was determined by the Chew-Low method from pi /sup -/ -- p yields pi /sup -/ + p + m/sup o/ interactions obser ved in a hydrogen bubble chamber. One pion exchange is taken to dominate the pi /sup -/-p event. Cross sections for a variety of values of W/sup 2/ (total pi /sup -/- omega /sup o/ energy squared) and DELTA /sup 2/ ( fourmomentum transfer for one pion exchange squared) are given. A maximum is observed at W/sup 2/ = 1.6 Bev/sup 2/, in agreement with Xuong. The omega -decay width is concluded to be between 3 and 11 Mev. (D.C.W.)
