Abstract

The aim of present study is the experimental investigation for performance augmentation of conventional photovoltaic panel with water circulation. Cooling to pv/th system is performed using number of copper tubes having diameter 6.35 mm attached behind the conventional photovoltaic panel through a single absorbing copper plate. Water is used as a working medium. Two types of photovoltaic systems are designed one is reference photovoltaic panel and another is photovoltaic with water pv/th system using single absorber plate Electrical & thermal performance is compared with each other at a given mass of water. The experiment is performed using poly crystalline silicon based material to study the performances of solar panel. Copper is used for making absorber plate. It is noted from the study that the parameters like open circuit voltage and short circuit current increases 3.45% and 2.4% respectively and 15.23% reduction in temperature and 6.08% increment in electrical efficiency obtained at mass flow rate 0.0166 kg/sec.
