Abstract

Summary I have attempted in this overview to outline some experimental models of bacterial ocular infection. These models have been used to study the pathogenesis of ocular infections in particular and infectious diseases in general. They have also been useful in studying practical therapeutic issues such as the relative merits of topical and subconjunctival routes of treatment of bacterial keratitis and of intravitreal injections in the treatment of endophthalmitis.
