Abstract

Among the bi-products of crude oil, diesel is one of the most widely used fuel because of its high calorific value, low fuel consumption, and higher brake thermal efficiency. But due to the raise in scarcity of fossil fuels there is a need for the search of alternative fuels that can replace petroleum products in the internal combustion engine. Biodiesel has enormous potentials as a green and technologically viable alternative to Diesel. Due to their similarities with the Diesel they gained a lot of attention and importance in the areas of fuel. In the present work, Jute biodiesel is used as fuel to investigate the performance and emission characteristics especially NOx and CO2 of diesel engine along with variation in fuel injection pressure as 180, 200, and 220 bar and exhaust gas recirculation as 5%, 10%, and 15%. The results of these are compared with diesel and analysed.
