Abstract

ABSTRACTWelding coils conduct current and establish a magnetic field during the welding process, and its structure heavily affects the magnetic field and impact force distribution. The existing literature on coil development for sheet connection is extremely limited. This paper analyzes the effect of the E-shaped coil current return path and the corresponding simulation is carried out. The results reveal that the optimal coil gap is about three times that of the middle arm, and the welding effect of the optimized coil is better than the ordinary coil. And, the optimized coil can reduce the required energy and improve the efficiency. Furthermore, the coil height is not a significant factor.
