Abstract

The pressure drop characteristics of pure steam condensation are studied in a horizontal tube with an inside diameter of 38 mm and a length of 3.4 m. The mass flux ranges from 3-7.5 kg/(m2s). The saturation temperatures of the inlet steam are 50?, 60?, and 70?. The temperature difference between the inlet steam and the inlet cooling water is from 3-7?. The influences of mass flux, total heat transfer temperature difference and inlet saturation temperature total pressure drop are investigated. The new correlation is proposed to calculate the total pressure drop of pure steam flow in a horizontal tube. The Dukler correlations based on the homogeneous flow model are good predictors for calculating the frictional pressure drop in this work.
