Experimental investigation of phase conjugation of a single signal pulse using self-pumped four-wave mixing in a single BaTiO 3 crystal

Abstract

Phase conjugate reflectivities of a single signal pulse in excess of 1% are achieved in a single BaTiO 3 crystal using a four-wave mixing configuration, in which the same crystal produces self-pumped phase conjugation of a repetitively pulsed pump to generate the counterpropagating pump. The configuration is used to perform phase distortion correction on an image carried in a single pulse with 15 ns duration.
