Abstract

Sol-gel spin coating method is used to prepare nanostructured CdS of chalcogenide mate- rials deposited on glass and quartz substrates with Cd:S 1.2:0.1 mol/L, 1000 rpm spin coat- ing speed and 400 0C and 800 0C annealing temperatures for glass and quartz, respectively. We have reported the effect of hydrothermal treatment on physical properties of crystalline size and morphology of CdS. Structural, morphological and optical properties are investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and UV-visible spectrophotometer. It is found that the average grain size is 4 nm and 1 nm deposited on glass and quartz, respectively. The optical properties are investigated experimentally and theoretically to verify the suitability for solar cell applications. Our calculated resulted are in agreement with experimental and theoretical ones.
