Abstract
In this study glass fibers reinforced polymer was synthesized as an implantable biomaterial because of its superior properties such as low weight, high specific strength, and low cost, reasonably good mechanical properties, non-abrasive. In this research work, two grades of glass fiber reinforced samples having 350 and 660 GSM (gram per square meter) size respectively were synthesized using hand-layup process. Subsequently, mechanical properties in terms of tensile, flexural, hardness and impact strength of synthesized glass fiber reinforced polymer samples were evaluated and compared with bone strength. SEM shows a glass fiber sheet and resin shows void less bonding therefore less chances of fracture. Both type of glass fiber sheet reinforced plastic also shows comparatively better strength than femur bone.
