Abstract

Pilot experiments, with a hyperthermia-system for the treatment of human tumors xenotransplanted into nude mice, are described. The tumors are heated by microwaves at 2,45 GHz. The treatment is controlled by non-invasive thermometry, the radiometry. Before in-vivo treatments could be started, the system had to be tested very carefully in a series of phantom experiments, in order to prove the reliability of the whole unit.
