Abstract

The interface structure model based on near coincidence site lattice (NCSL) theory is investigated in a highly mismatched system of (001) Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O (BSCCO) films on (001) substrates of a garnet-structure material with a 12 Å lattice length. As expected by the interface structure model, irregular in-plane orientation of BSCCO[210] | sub. [100] is realized by using (001) GGG (gadolinium gallium garnet) substrates. The (001) BSCCO films are found to have a biaxially aligned in-plane texture consisting of BSCCO[210] | GGG[100] and BSCCO[ 210 ] | GGG[100] domains. The critical temperature up to 67 K is observed in regard to the superconductivity.
