Abstract

The work described in this article was performed with the aim of introducing a flexible plasma antenna excited by a 2.45 GHz magnetron power supply. The antenna system is made of a flexible discharge tube, which can be arranged in different shapes. The properties of the antennas were determined by varying the plasma parameters and the shapes of the antenna. The results show that characteristics such as the resistance, reactance, directionality and radiation pattern can be easily and rapidly regulated by varying not only the discharge parameters but also the antenna shapes. Moreover, the range of plasma parameters in the 2.45 GHz plasma antenna system is larger than when driven by kHz and MHz power supplies. Hence, the reconfigurability of the antenna is superior. For example, the 2.45 GHz monopole antenna can be transformed into a planar antenna for reflecting electromagnetic waves.
