Abstract

Angle-resolved UV photoelectron spectra were measured for the ZnO(10 1 0) surface using synchrotron radiation in the energy range from 20 to 80 eV. Five different bands were resolved along the ΛM line out of six predicted by calculations. This proves that band mapping under the assumption of k-convervation and a single nearly free electron-like final band works also for a II–VI compound such as ZnO. Structures in the Zn 3d level are discussed.
