Abstract

The viscosities of carbonated N-methyldiethanolamine (MDEA)–monoethanolamine (MEA) aqueous solutions were measured, with the temperature, mass fraction of amines and CO2 loading (α, mole number of CO2/mole number of MDEA+MEA) respectively ranging from 293.15K to 343.15K, 0.2 to 0.5 and 0 to 0.5. A modified Grunberg–Nissan equation was proposed for correlation and prediction of the viscosities of carbonated MDEA–MEA aqueous solutions. The effects of temperature, amine concentration and CO2 loading on the viscosities were demonstrated.
