Abstract

English Medium Instruction (EMI) is an ongoing graduates teaching reform program for domestic universities to accommodate the upcoming international enrollments and educations. Presented in this paper are my many years of experiences in the practice of the EMI of ‘Introduction to the Theory of Elasticity’ for the graduate students major in process equipment and control engineering at Zhengzhou University. These experiences involve the preparations for setting up the EMI course, making syllabus, selecting textbook, writing lesson plan, preparing for classes, class lecturing, homework and examinations. The purpose is to share them with all EMI colleagues, hoping to initiate a discussion on this topic, get responses from other colleagues, facilitate exchanges of teaching experiences, promote common improvements, and contribute to the extending and spreading of the EMI for graduate students in China.
