Abstract

A model of the color trap for the night catch of zooplankton in small water bodies (ponds) based on the publication of F.E. Smith and E.R. Baylor [14] was proposed and tested. These authors studied the response of plankton Crustacea to the influence of red and blue light. Mainly representatives of the family Chydoridae were found in the color trap. In this case, representatives of the families Daphniidae and Bosminidae dominating in the net plankton of the studied water body by day time were not registered in the color trap, as well as Copepoda. The put forward method can be used for specifying the biodiversity of zooplankton.
