Abstract

While Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) is the preferred method of managing STEMI, geographical barriers mean thrombolysis remains an important treatment modality in many regional Australian centres. In Coffs Harbour, Primary PCI for STEMI is offered during business hours, while thrombolysis, with rescue PCI if required, is the primary treatment strategy outside those times. We sought to describe our experience of managing STEMI using this hybrid reperfusion system in a regional Australian hospital.
