Abstract

This article is written by Melanie Cutietta. Melanie is a Research Librarian at the Yellowstone Research Library (YRL) in Yellowstone National Park. She holds an MLIS from San Jose State University and a BMus-Ed from the University of Southern California. This article explores the challenges the YRL faces as it seeks to make its collections more assessable to virtual researchers. It explains the intricacies involved in working in a remote location while simultaneously functioning within a large government structure. The article offers some solutions and workarounds to several challenges and outlines two projects the YRL has created to increase the discoverability of collections and digitize historical collections.
