Abstract
The problems associated with the use of piles in low strength clay soils are well recognized and have been extensively studied. The purpose herein is to set forth a simple and economical means by which the effective resistive cross-sectional area of a pile, and thus its load bearing capacity, may be greatly increased after the pile has been driven to its final position.
