Abstract

Excited states of 52Cr have been studied through p-γ coincidence measurements with a Ge(Li) detector, precise γ-ray energy measurements and p-γ angular correlations. A multi-crystal system for angular correlation measurements is described. Precise excitation energies have been obtained for ten levels. The 3.41 MeV level has been assigned spin 3 or 4. The 3.47 MeV level has been shown to be a doublet of separation 3.0 ± 1.1 keV; its lower member has been assigned spin 3 or 5 and the upper member spin 2. Previous spin assignments have been confirmed for several other levels. Multipole mixing ratios have been measured for transitions from the three levels at 3.41 and 3.47 MeV and for transitions to the first excited state from the 2.97, 3.16 and 3.77 MeV levels. Branching ratios have been measured for the 3.16 and 3.77 MeV levels.
