Abstract
An in-beam study of excited states in140Ce revealed 16 new levels of positive and negative parity on top of the 6+ isomer. The excitation energies of these states are well reproduced by diagonalizing the same Hamiltonian in two model spaces, aπ=+1 shell-model basis and aπ=−1 particle-core coupling basis.
