Abstract

The energy density method is used as a starting point to calculate excitation energies in nuclei. Landau theory provides us with a way of constructing the effective interaction between elementary excitations directly from the energy functional. The Landau parameters obtained in the present work are compared to various estimates. Typical examples of nuclear spectra are presented for illustrative purposes.
