Abstract

AbstractThe expression for the decrease in electrical resistivity below the temperature of magnetic ordering, derived on the basis of the Kasuya‐Yosida model for dilute alloys containing a transitional metal solute has been modified recently by Collings, Hedgcock, and Muto, in order to take the resistivity minimum into account. This is used here to estimate the exchange interaction parameter in polycrystalline rods of silver containing respectively 0.14, 0.32 and 0.55 at.‐% of manganese in random solid solution. The prediction of the model as to the variation of the electronic Lorenz parameter, in these alloys at liquid helium temperatures, with applied magnetic field and temperature are found to agree qualitatively with the behaviour inferred from experimental results.
