Abstract

The therapy world is fast-paced, forward-thinking, and ever-developing new strategies, treatments and approaches to patient care. It strives to improve quality of life for patients (Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, 2002; College of Occupational Therapists, 2010). In fact, it could be argued that the entire focus of the forward drive of our professions is patient-centred. But this poses a rather interesting question. In our pursuit of the perfect treatment, are we leaving some of our own behind? Are we neglecting the therapists who attempt to strive alongside us in preference of the possible achievement of the end goal? If the answer is yes, perhaps we must ask ourselves if the achievement of the end goal justifies the means used.
