Abstract

In this study, the effect of friction time on microstructure and mechanic properties of AISI1030 steel with nickel interlayer and HCrWCI welded by friction welding method was investigated experimentally. The weld joints were produced with rotational speed (2000 rev min–1), friction pressure (80 MPa), forging pressure (150 MPa), forging time (8 s) and friction times (8, 10 and 12 s). After friction welding process, the microstructures of the weld interfaces were analysed by scanning electron microscopy, elemental mapping and energy dispersive spectrometry. Microhardness and tensile tests were applied to determine the mechanical behaviour of weld joints. In addition, the fractographic analyses of weld joints were performed by energy dispersive spectrometry and scanning electron microscopy. The results later were compared theoretically and experimentally.
