Abstract

Starting from a fully discrete crystalline model for a two-dimensional (screw) dislocation, we derive exact equations of motion for the dislocation and phonons with use of a Hamiltonian formalism for a constrained system. The Peach-Koehler and the Lorentz forces are shown to result from the nonintegrability condition for a displacement field around the dislocation.
